Flat woven

Flat-woven fabrics are made by interlacing warp and weft yarns without a pile. Plain, twill and basket weaves are all flat weaves; the weave and the yarns decide whether the surface looks smooth, ribbed or textured.

With no pile to brush, a flat weave looks the same from every angle, and its colour reads evenly across the surface. The hand ranges from crisp to soft, depending on the yarn and the finish.
