About Blackout
Blackout fabrics are curtain fabrics designed to stop light passing through. The effect comes from the construction: a very dense weave, layers of dark and coloured yarns woven together, or a coating on the back.
From the room, a blackout looks like any curtain fabric, plain or textured. It feels heavier and fuller than a sheer and hangs in deeper folds. How much light it blocks depends on the specific fabric.
