Delivery terms, explained
- EXW
Ex Works
The seller makes the goods available at its premises; the buyer arranges everything from there, including export clearance.
- FOB
Free On Board
The seller clears the goods for export and loads them on board at the port of shipment; the buyer pays the sea freight and insurance.
- CFR
Cost and Freight
As FOB, and the seller also pays the sea freight to the port of destination. The risk passes to the buyer once the goods are on board.
- CIF
Cost, Insurance and Freight
As CFR, and the seller also buys minimum cargo insurance for the sea journey.
