A fuzzy, tufted yarn woven into a soft surface with a subtle texture.
About Chenille
Chenille takes its name from the French word for caterpillar, and the yarn explains why: short tufts of fibre are held between twisted core yarns, so the yarn itself is soft and fuzzy. Woven into cloth, it gives a velvety surface.
Because the pile sits on the yarn rather than across the whole face, chenille looks more textured and slightly irregular than velvet. Its surface catches the light at different angles and feels warm and soft to the touch.
